Unblocking Blue Finance

Add to calendar:

We’re pleased to invite you to participate at the Interactive Dialogue UNLOCKING BLUE FINANCE in India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and the Philippines, organised by the Ocean Centres — a global initiative hosted by the United Nations Global Compact and supported by Lloyd’s Register Foundation, active in Brazil, Ghana, Kenya, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

This 1h45 online session is a participatory global-to-local conversation on unlocking Blue Finance — connecting international mechanisms with regional priorities to accelerate a Safe and Sustainable Ocean Economy (S-SOE).

A strong and innovative S-SOE is essential for the transition toward safe and blue-green economies: decarbonised shipping, green port infrastructure, offshore renewables, and sustainable seafood systems are rapidly becoming central to climate-aligned investment portfolios. Financial institutions, insurers, re-insurers, ocean industries, governments and development finance institutions all play a pivotal role in managing risks and seizing opportunities in this transition.

Global insights will be brought by:

• Tim Slingsby — Lloyd’s Register Foundation

• Claire Jolly — OECD – Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development

• Martin Koehring — UNEPFI – United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative

Local perspectives will be shared by:

• Namita Vikas (India) — auctusESG

• M. Shaifur Rahman Mazumdar (Bangladesh) — CSE – Chittagong Stock Exchange

• Dr. Derry Wanta (Indonesia) — Indonesia Blue Economy Center

• Jo Ann Eala (Philippines) — Bank of the Philippines Island
