>On 5 August 2025, the UN Global Compact Network Indonesia (IGCN) and o9 Solutions with Paul Polman co-hosted a high-level CEO Dialogue on Building Agile, Adaptive, AI-powered Supply Chains at JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta. Held under the Chatham House Rule, the closed-door forum brought together CEOs and senior executives from across sectors to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) and digital innovation can transform supply chains into strategic engines of growth, resilience, and sustainability.The discussion emphasized the strategic urgency for Indonesian companies to enhance competitiveness, not just locally but globally. Participants noted that Indonesia’s supply chain landscape is uniquely positioned to lead in sustainability and resilience, but doing so requires bold leadership, investment in innovation, and the collective will to adopt new technologies, especially AI.
Speakers outlined the growing relevance of Scope-3 emissions, the country’s import dependency, and the need to improve planning, forecasting, and traceability through digital tools. Across sectors, including energy, mining, plantations, manufacturing, and FMCG, participants shared how their organizations are beginning to shift from fragmented systems to integrated business planning (IBP) powered by generative AI.
It was highlighted that generative AI is expected to bring significant change within the next 3–5 years, especially in enabling real-time, intelligent decision-making. Yet, the true driver of transformation is not just technology, it is the mindset of leadership. Many acknowledged that the supply chain should no longer be viewed solely as a cost center, but as a critical enabler of value creation and long-term sustainability.
